You're right, but the point is that he will never achieve that confidence until he gets on the floor. He's waiting for something that will never come during scrimmages at practice. If he waits until next year, you're going to see that same apprehension and 35% shooting until he's played for a while.

I understand the thought that Rose is being apprehensive, and if he's cleared to play by doctors, he should get out there. But what separates the good players from the great players? Instincts. There are probably 5-10 point guards in the NBA right now who can physically do what Derrick Rose does. The difference is Rose doesn't even have to think about it, greatness pours out of him. If he's not confident when he hits the floor, all of a sudden, he's thinking about his next move, how his leg will hold up. He's a second behind everyone, and all of a sudden, he's hoisting up 20 shots a game at a 35% clip, with more turnovers than assists. He's never faced anything like this in his young career, let him get through this so that he can come back as confident and strong as possible. The Bulls and the NBA will be better off for it.
